To Set Date and Time in Linux

To set date and time in Linux ,we use date command.Using date command with syntax and examples as follows.

Use the date command to display the current date and time or set the system date  or time over ssh . You can also run the date command from X window as root user.

linux-date-time

Syntax:-

date –set=”DATA STRING”

eg:-
we need to set date as 12th Jan 2013 11:14:46 means use the following command

# date -s “12 Jan 2013 11:14:46″

Or

# date –set=”12 Jan 2013 11:14:46″
