Search quickly in Wikipedia by using the Linux command mode

Easy ways to take screenshot in Linux Terminal window

We already discussed in previous topic about taking screenshot using  import command 

Another method to take screenshot is scrot command.

What is scrot

SCROT-(SCReenshOT) command is used for taking screen shots of your Desktop,Scrot uses imlib2 library to aquire & save images.

To install scrot using Yum command

yum install scrot*

scrot -d 4 screenshot.png

This command will take entire screenshot of your Desktop

To display a countdown in the console. Use following command

scrot -q 80 -c -d 4 screenshot.jpg

Another method to take screenshot using  xwd command

What is xwd ?

Xwd is a dumping utility of X Window system.It also used to take screenshot.

xwd | convert xwd:- scnshot_$(date +%Y%m%d_%H%M%S).png

If you need to take a screenshot of your remote desktop use the following command

DISPLAY=”:0.0″ import -window root screenshot.png
