How to mount NTFS file system in Linux

 

In this post i am going to explain you how to mount a NTFS filesystem in linux. To mount a  NTFS filesystem ntfs-3g package needs to installed in the server. How to download and install ntfs-3g is given below.

Download the below rpm packages and install it

For 32 bit OS
wget http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp/pub/Linux/Fedora/epel/5/x86_64/ntfs-3g-2011.4.12-5.el5.i386.rpm

 

For 64 bit OS
wget http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp/pub/Linux/Fedora/epel/5/x86_64/ntfs-3g-2011.4.12-5.el5.x86_64.rpm

Suppose consider that the NTFS device you are going to mount is /dev/sdc1. Then you are going to mount in mount point /mnt.

How to mount NTFS filesystem
#mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdc1 /mnt
